LEO STEWART EXPOSES HIMSELF IN FIFE: SHOCKING INCIDENTS IN KIRKCALDY
In a series of disturbing incidents that took place in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Leo Stewart, a 20-year-old man, was found guilty of exposing himself to two different females in broad daylight, with one of the victims being only 13 years old.The court proceedings revealed details of these unsettling events, which occurred approximately ten months apart, and also included charges related to possession of a Stanley knife.
According to court records, the first incident happened on September 22 of the previous year at Appin Crescent, a residential area in Kirkcaldy.
Stewart deliberately exposed his genitals in a sexual manner to a young girl who was only 13 at the time.
He also made obscene sexual remarks directed at her.
The young girl was so shocked and distressed by the encounter that she went straight home and locked herself inside until her mother returned, clearly shaken by the experience.
The second incident took place on July 15 of this year on Balfour Street, also in Kirkcaldy.
On this occasion, Stewart again intentionally exposed himself to a female victim.
This time, he was cycling past her when he turned back and carried out the same offensive act.
A police officer who was nearby witnessed Stewart on a bicycle around the same time, which helped in identifying him as the perpetrator.
Both women were able to recognize Stewart as the individual responsible for the flashing incidents.
During the trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, the jury heard evidence from the victims and witnesses.
Rebecca Williamson, Stewart’s partner, provided crucial testimony regarding Stewart’s appearance on the day of the first incident.
She described the clothes and trainers he was wearing, which matched the description given by the young girl.
Ms Williamson also told the court that Stewart was holding a can of the energy drink ‘Rockstar’ during the incident.
She further explained that Stewart had left her home in Katrine Crescent during lunchtime to visit Bayne’s shop in Templehall, returning with the can of ‘Rockstar’ in hand.
In addition to the exposure charges, Stewart was convicted of possessing a Stanley knife at the scene of the first incident.
Currently, Stewart is detained at Polmont youth offenders’ institution, having previously resided on Melrose Crescent.
The court also considered allegations of sexual assault against a woman on September 13, which took place on Birnam Road and Turriff Place in Kirkcaldy.
The woman testified that she had been speaking with Stewart before he grabbed her and sexually assaulted her in a lane.
She identified Stewart as her attacker, who was wearing a hooded garment.
However, the court found insufficient evidence to proceed with the sexual assault charge, as there was no corroboration and the incident was of a different nature from the flashing cases.
Sheriff Craig McSherry upheld a defense motion that there was no case to answer on that charge.
Stewart’s case was adjourned for further reports, and he is scheduled to be sentenced on October 5.
Until then, he remains in custody and has been placed on the sex offenders’ register, reflecting the serious nature of these offenses in Fife.
