Leigh Bedford, a 39-year-old resident of Birstall, has been handed a significant prison sentence after authorities uncovered his involvement in possessing and sharing a vast collection of indecent images of children.

The investigation revealed that Bedford had accessed nearly 2,000 such images through the internet, a disturbing number that included photographs of very young children, some under the age of five.

The authorities found that Bedford not only possessed these illicit images but also actively distributed them to others.

Specifically, he shared ten images via the popular messaging platform Skype, further demonstrating his engagement in the illegal dissemination of child exploitation material.

Bedford’s actions have caused considerable concern among law enforcement officials and child protection advocates, given the severity and nature of the crimes.

During the legal proceedings, Bedford admitted to multiple charges, including the possession of indecent images, the distribution of such material, and the possession of extreme pornography.
