Bloxwich Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing incident that has left the community in shock, Leejay Cater, aged 38, was responsible for a reckless and dangerous act that saw a five-year-old girl forcibly taken from her bed in Walsall, West Midlands. The incident, which has been described by authorities as a 'burglary that went wrong,' resulted in Cater being sentenced to nearly six years in prison.

According to court records and police reports, the terrifying ordeal unfolded in the early hours of August 24 last year. Cater, who is a resident of Bloxwich, entered the young girl's home by climbing through her bedroom window. His intent appeared to be related to drug seeking, but the situation quickly escalated into a criminal act of abduction.

Once inside, Cater managed to lift the frightened girl out of her bed and carried her onto a nearby flat roof. Witnesses and investigators described how he then climbed out behind her, leaving her vulnerable on the rooftop. Shortly after 2 a.m., Cater made the perilous descent by jumping the remaining eight feet to the ground below. He then hurriedly took the girl into a nearby alleyway, attempting to conceal his actions.

Her mother, who was awakened by her daughter's screams, rushed to a landing window and saw Cater holding the child. For legal reasons, the girl cannot be identified publicly. Her father, alerted by the commotion, immediately ran downstairs in an effort to intervene and recover his daughter.

Leejay Cater was later charged and pleaded guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court to the crime of taking a child without lawful authority. He admitted that his actions occurred during a burglary that had gone awry, but the court found the act of abduction itself to be a serious offense.

Judge Rhona Campbell sentenced Cater to five years and nine months in prison. During her remarks, she highlighted the profound impact on the young girl, who was left confused and initially believed her father was merely playing a prank. The court was told that the child now suffers from significant fear, refusing to open windows and unable to sleep alone or in her own bedroom.

The judge also addressed the wider implications for the family, noting that despite implementing additional security measures, their sense of safety and happiness has been severely compromised. She emphasized that Cater's actions have caused lasting trauma and upheaval for the entire family, stating, 'An entire family’s security and happiness has been wholly undermined by your actions.'
