Ormseby Sexual Abuser
A man convicted of sexually abusing a young child has been sentenced to a six-year prison term, along with additional safeguards aimed at preventing future offenses. Lee Webster, aged 39, pleaded guilty to 13 separate charges, which included engaging in sexual activities with a minor and encouraging a child to participate in sexual acts. The court was informed that Webster’s abuse of the victim occurred over a prolonged timeframe. The case was initiated after a third-party complaint was made to Cleveland Police last summer. An investigation followed, leading the Crown Prosecution Service to charge Webster with 14 counts; he admitted guilt on all but one charge in late July. The sentencing judge imposed a six-year imprisonment, along with a lifelong sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order. Additionally, Webster will be subject to sex offender registration and ongoing monitoring after his release. Detective Sergeant Claire Baker commended the victim's courage in coming forward and highlighted their strength. Acting Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Waterfield described Webster’s conduct as heinous and methodical, adding that the abuse began around the time of the COVID-19 lockdown. He assured the public that law enforcement remains committed to prosecuting such offenders to ensure justice is served.
