Leeds Child Sexual Abuser
In a case that has shocked the community of Leeds, a man named Lee Terry has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in grooming and sexually abusing a young girl who was only 14 years old at the time. The incident, which took place over several months, highlights the disturbing nature of the offenses committed by Terry, who is now 33 years old.

According to court records, the criminal activity began in July of the previous year when Terry initiated contact with the girl through text messages. The young girl, who was still attending school, responded to his messages and subsequently visited his flat in Leeds. On her first visit, she arrived dressed in her school uniform, and it was during this initial meeting that sexual contact was first established between the two.

Over the course of the following three months, Terry maintained a pattern of frequent contact with the girl, meeting her between 20 and 30 times. During these encounters, they engaged in sexual activities regularly, with Terry exploiting his position of authority and trust. The court heard that Terry’s behavior was manipulative and predatory, targeting a vulnerable minor.

Prosecutor Nicholas Askins described Terry’s attitude following the girl’s pregnancy, stating that he was “utterly un-supportive” when she became pregnant and chose to end the relationship. The girl, believing she was in a genuine relationship, described Terry as moody, demanding, and controlling. Her emotional distress was compounded by the fact that she was left to deal with the pregnancy alone, ultimately choosing to terminate it. She confided in her mother about her relationship with Terry, driven by feelings of shame and confusion.

During the court proceedings, defense counsel Allan Armbrister explained that Terry’s offending occurred during a difficult period in his life, marked by a breakdown in his marriage and issues with alcohol abuse. Despite these mitigating circumstances, the judge, Sally Cahill, emphasized the severity of Terry’s actions and the vulnerability of the young girl involved.

Judge Cahill sentenced Lee Terry to a total of nine years in prison. She ordered that he serve a minimum of six years behind bars, followed by an extended three-year period on license once released. The judge made it clear that Terry’s treatment of the victim demonstrated a blatant disregard for her well-being and safety. She stated, “She was an extremely vulnerable young girl. She was entitled, from a man of your age, to be protected not abused. She became pregnant and she had the painful decision to make about what to do thereafter. It is clear that it has had a substantial impact. It is clear that your treatment of the victim shows a clear disregard for her.”

This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding minors and the devastating consequences of grooming and sexual abuse by those who are supposed to protect and care for them.
