LEE SCOTT FROM SUNDERLAND EXPOSED HIMSELF TO CHILDREN IN NEWCASTLE
In July 2014, Lee Scott, a 44-year-old man from Sunderland, caused significant distress and fear by exposing himself during a sex act at his living room window as children walked by.On February 4th, witnesses observed Scott, who was naked, perform a sexual act while looking out from his ground-floor window.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that this shocking incident left one young girl in tears after witnessing what he was doing.
An adult witness described feeling “sickened, scared and upset” by the display.
Prosecutor Anne Richardson explained that Scott had positioned himself behind net curtains in his front room, allowing him to look out and be seen.
She also revealed that, weeks prior, a passerby believed they saw Scott behaving in a similar manner but dismissed the thought as too disturbing to be true.
When questioned about the incident, Scott initially denied the allegations and claimed that locals were targeting him because he has schizophrenia.
He resides on Swindon Road in Sunderland.
Eventually, Scott pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
Presiding Judge James Goss sentenced him to a two-year supervision order, noting he had already been held in custody for the equivalent of a 12-month prison sentence.
Additionally, Scott is required to register as a sex offender for five years.
The judge addressed Scott directly, stating, “What you did was deliberately and knowingly done towards and in the presence of passing people, including young children.
That caused both the children and the adults who witnessed your behaviour obvious disgust and upset.
I hope you understand such behaviour is not only a crime, but it is regarded as a serious crime when it is directed towards children.
I sincerely hope you have learned your lesson and will never behave in this way again.” The court also heard that assessments indicate Scott poses only a low risk of committing future contact sex offences.
