LEE REDGRAVE FROM FIFE SENTENCED AFTER SHOWING SICK VIDEOS TO BOYS IN ST ANDREWS
In February 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving Lee Redgrave, a man from St Andrews with a troubling history of sexual offenses, who was ultimately sentenced to prison for his actions involving young boys in Fife.Redgrave, a registered sex offender with two prior convictions for lewd, indecent, and libidinous conduct, was found guilty of exposing two teenage boys to highly inappropriate and explicit images and videos.
The incidents took place at his residence in St Andrews, where he had previously hosted groups of young boys, some of whom were as young as 14 and 15 years old.
According to court reports, the first incident occurred when Redgrave, in a sudden and unsettling manner, told a 15-year-old boy to “watch this” before showing him a video on his phone.
The video depicted Redgrave engaging in a sexual act on himself using a sex toy.
The boy recognized Redgrave as the individual in the video and also identified his bedroom from the footage, confirming Redgrave’s involvement.
Redgrave then admitted that the person in the video was indeed himself.
On a separate occasion, Redgrave showed a 14-year-old boy a picture on his phone, claiming he was “finding it difficult urinating” because of a piercing.
The boy, who stated he would not have a piercing himself, was shown an image of pierced genitals, which Redgrave claimed was his own.
This revelation added to the disturbing nature of the case.
The mother of the second boy reported the incident to police on September 27, 2018, after her son was shown the image.
During police interviews, Redgrave admitted to possessing the images but denied ever showing them to the boys.
Despite his denials, the evidence was sufficient for charges to be brought against him.
Redgrave, aged 35 and currently detained at HMP Perth, faced multiple charges under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act.
He pleaded guilty to two charges related to the incidents in September of the previous year, as well as to breaching a sexual offences prevention order that had been in place since November 2, 2012.
This order prohibited him from having deliberate contact with any child under the age of 16 for a period of ten years.
During the court proceedings, Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC deferred sentencing to allow for social work background reports to be prepared.
Redgrave was remanded in custody pending the sentencing hearing, which will determine the length and nature of his punishment for these serious offenses.
