BLACKBURN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ASSAULTING PARTNER WITH TEETHING RING
A man named Lee Pilkington, aged 49 and residing on Read Street in Clayton-le-Moors, pleaded guilty to assault after an incident where he threw a teething ring at his partner while she was feeding their baby.
According to the court report, the victim was hit in the head with the ring before Pilkington demanded she leave their caravan.
The court heard that he also tried to prevent her from reaching their child by grabbing her by the arms and throwing her against the caravan.
The sentencing included an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months, a community order for 18 months including 30 days of rehabilitative activity, and an 18-month restraining order forbidding contact with the victim.
Prosecutor Andy Robinson described that the couple had been out for the day and were having a barbecue when Pilkington became angry, threw the teething ring, and told his partner to leave.
The court also heard that the woman was attempting to reach her child during the incident and felt scared and fearful for her life.
The defendant's defense lawyer, Gareth Price, requested that the magistrates consider a pre-sentence report and noted that Pilkington had shown the ability to stay out of trouble over the years.
