August 2015 Man who got 14-year-old pregnant after one night stand warned he ‘could be jailed’ A TORQUAY man has been warned that he faces a serious risk of custody after he got a 14-year-old pregnant after a one night stand. Lee Owen, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court on Friday. Prosecuting, Jonathan Barnes said: “He had met the girl. They became friendly and he got to know her, and on one occasion they had sexual intercourse, which she had agreed to. “There was some foreplay and she knew what was going to happen, before she took her clothes off and they had sex. She then fell pregnant.” The court was told the offence had happened in a public area. Mitigating, Paul Dentith, said: “He had nothing to do with the girl afterwards.” Judge Francis Gilbert QC adjourned sentence until October 2 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared, but told Owen that he faced a real risk of a custodial sentence. He said: “You had a one night stand with a young girl and got her pregnant. This is a very serious matter.”
