Bispham Sexual Abuser
In a serious case that has shocked the local community, Lee Martin, a 23-year-old resident of Melville Road in Bispham, has been sentenced to over five years in prison for sexually abusing two young girls. The incidents occurred during separate occasions, and the case was brought before Preston Crown Court, where the details of Martin’s actions and the subsequent legal proceedings were thoroughly examined.

According to court reports, the initial complaint against Martin was made to the police concerning his inappropriate behavior towards the first young girl. However, at that time, no formal charges or prosecution followed. It was only after a second complaint, involving the second girl, that authorities took further action. The court was informed that Martin had pleaded guilty to two counts of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13, a conviction that led to his sentencing.

Judge Susan Beech presided over the case and sentenced Martin to a term of five years and one month behind bars. During the proceedings, the court heard that Martin’s actions involved touching the girls beneath their clothing, a detail that underscored the severity of the offenses. The prosecution, led by Mark Ainsworth, emphasized the impact of Martin’s crimes, noting that he acknowledged his conduct had “effectively ruined the girls’ lives.”

Martin was arrested in October of the previous year, and during the trial, his defense solicitor, Waheed Omran-Baber, provided insight into his client’s state of mind. Omran-Baber stated that Martin found the legal process to be a relief, as he was struggling to live with the guilt of his actions. The defense also highlighted that Martin expressed remorse and recognized the damage caused to the victims. Omran-Baber explained that Martin had volunteered to care for the children in an attempt to earn money, which he needed to support his ongoing struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. He revealed that Martin’s childhood was marked by hardship, describing his life as “non-existent,” and that he had been drinking up to nine liters of cider daily during his lowest points.

Despite the defense’s arguments, Judge Beech clarified that she did not believe financial gain was the sole motivation behind Martin’s actions. She criticized the late plea of guilty, which caused additional stress and trauma for the victims who faced the prospect of a jury trial. As part of his sentence, Martin will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and will be subject to a sexual offences prevention order. This order explicitly prohibits any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16, reflecting the court’s commitment to preventing further harm.
