LEE EVANS
After the attack, he instructed her to enter the shower to wash off the blood gushing from her face.
The relationship, which lasted four years, grew increasingly unhealthy as Evans became more controlling.
His actions included confiscating her phone, preventing her from communicating via the device, and repeatedly accusing her of infidelity with other men.
He also examined her messages, recorded her without consent, and threatened her if she did not comply with his demands.
The incident took place while they were staying at Evans’s grandmother’s residence in Ferndale, as a court hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court revealed.
On August 31 of the previous year, Evans accused his partner of cheating, claiming, "I'm not stupid, I know you have been in those places with those boys," and alleged she was unfaithful at a pub.
According to reports, the victim felt blood running down her face as Evans continued to assault her.
Her memory was of waking up on the floor after Evans had repeatedly punched her in the head.
He then directed her to wash the blood off her face in the bathroom, where she saw blood on her hands, arms, face, and hair.
He demanded she put her head under water, causing her pain and dizziness.
Evans showed remorse afterward, apologizing and lamenting his actions, saying, "I can't believe I had done this." Despite his apology, he threatened her, saying, "Shake as much as you want, I'll f****** kill you next time." The victim was taken to hospital and treated for a forehead wound, claiming she had fallen down the stairs.
When she returned home, Evans again apologized but soon accused her of cheating, leading to another confrontation.
During this, she began to shake from fear, and Evans threatened her with violence.
She then contacted law enforcement, resulting in Evans’s arrest.
Although released on bail, Evans continued his controlling behavior, confronting her at a hotel in Cardiff, where he once again accused her of infidelity.
The court heard Evans has an extensive criminal record with 27 prior convictions, primarily for violence related to domestic abuse.
He pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and coercive control.
In a victim-impact statement, the complainant described ongoing emotional distress, including anxiety, depression, nightmares, and flashbacks.
Judge Williams labeled Evans as a repeat domestic violence offender and sentenced him to nearly three years in prison, along with a 12-year restraining order to prevent further contact.
