HARTLEPOOL MAN LEE DENNISON SENTENCED FOR MASSIVE CHILD INDECENCY IMAGE COLLECTION
In November 2020, a disturbing case emerged involving a resident of Hartlepool named Lee Dennison, who was found to have accumulated an unprecedented and disturbing collection of child abuse images. The police investigation revealed that Dennison, aged 45, had been engaging in this illicit activity for several years, storing over 150,000 indecent images of children along with hundreds of hours of related videos within his modest flat in Hartlepool.
During a court hearing at Teesside Crown Court, prosecutors detailed the extent of Dennison’s illegal collection.
It was disclosed that he possessed a total of 158,624 images classified as indecent and illegal, which he had been actively downloading and storing since September 2005 up until March 2019.
The sheer volume of material was described as the largest ever encountered by a police officer in such a case.
The court further learned that among the images, 1,969 were categorized as the most severe form of abuse, with an additional 2,163 images falling into the next level of seriousness.
The remaining 153,940 images were classified under the lowest category of severity.
In addition to these, Dennison also possessed approximately 1.2 million non-indecent pictures of children, highlighting the extent of his disturbing collection.
Furthermore, Dennison pleaded guilty to possessing 450 prohibited images of children and 102 extreme pornographic images, all of which contributed to the gravity of his crimes.
The victims depicted in the images ranged from very young children to teenagers, underscoring the heinous nature of his offenses.
Detective Mr.
Turton, involved in the investigation, remarked that he had never encountered a case with such a vast quantity of child abuse images, emphasizing the severity of the crime.
The court was also informed that the images represented real children being sexually abused, and that by seeking out and possessing such material, Dennison was actively promoting and encouraging the market for child exploitation.
Judge Jonathan Carroll, presiding over the case, dismissed Dennison’s claims that he did not have a sexual interest in children.
The judge described Dennison’s attitude as showing a “total lack of insight” into the criminality of his actions.
In sentencing, Dennison was handed a two-year prison term, with the judge emphasizing the real harm caused by such offenses.
He stated, “When you commit these offences they are not just video files, they are files of real children really being sexually abused and in seeking out this material you are promoting and encouraging the market in this material.”
