A man named Lars Pedersen, aged 38, has been handed a life sentence after being convicted of raping a vulnerable woman who was later found dead near the Forth and Clyde Canal in the Maryhill area of Glasgow.
The tragic incident unfolded when Pedersen approached Alison McAllister, a 56-year-old woman, who was sitting alone in a distressed and intoxicated state.
Her body was discovered close to the canal on March 20, 2018, approximately 19 hours after she was last seen alive.
