In a harrowing case that has shocked the communities of Skelmersdale and Warrington, Lance Buruka, a 44-year-old man with a disturbing history, was convicted of multiple heinous crimes involving a young girl. The offences, which took place over a period of time, included at least seven counts of rape and additional sexual assaults against a child under 13. Buruka, who was formerly residing in Heathgate, Skelmersdale, and later moved to Partridge Close, Birchwood, Warrington, was found guilty at Liverpool Crown Court in August after a lengthy trial.

During the proceedings, the court heard that Buruka, a married father of five, had subjected the young girl to repeated sexual abuse, stripping her of her innocence and causing profound emotional trauma. Despite the gravity of his actions, Buruka initially denied the allegations, only admitting to lesser offences when confronted. This denial forced the young victim to testify in court, reliving her ordeal in front of a judge and jury.

Following the conviction, Buruka was sentenced to a total of 18 years in prison, with an additional year on licence, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes. The judge, Neil Flewitt, QC, described Buruka as an
