LAM HOE YEOH SHOCKING CRIME IN BANSTEAD AND LONDON REVEALED

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community, Dr. Lam Hoe Yeoh, a highly regarded hearing specialist, has admitted to a series of heinous crimes involving the secret filming of hundreds of individuals. The offences, which span over three years, include voyeurism, the creation of indecent images of children, and possession of extreme pornography, and have raised serious concerns about privacy and safety in medical and public spaces.

Dr. Yeoh, aged 62 and residing on Garratts Lane in Banstead, Surrey, was taken into custody in April at the privately operated St Anthony's Hospital located in North Cheam. The court proceedings revealed that Yeoh had clandestinely recorded more than a thousand victims, comprising patients, colleagues, and visitors, across various locations throughout the United Kingdom. These recordings were not merely stored but were also edited into compilation films, indicating a deliberate effort to collect and organize the footage for personal gratification.

The court heard that Yeoh’s actions were extensive and methodical. Recorder Warwick McKinnon emphasized the severity of the case, warning that a custodial sentence was inevitable when Yeoh is sentenced on the upcoming Wednesday. The judge stated, “A custodial sentence has to be passed in this case. It must be obvious that a serious and significant sentence must be considered. It is not a sentence I can deliver nor anyone can deliver on the hoof.”

Prosecutor Peter Clement described the scope of Yeoh’s offending as unprecedented, even surpassing previous investigations by the Metropolitan Police. He characterized Yeoh’s conduct as “sinister, indecent, and criminal,” highlighting the malicious intent behind the voyeurism. The charges, which include seven counts of voyeurism, six counts of making indecent images of a child, and one count of possessing extreme pornography, relate to incidents occurring between January 1, 2011, and April 15, 2014.

Yeoh employed various devices such as pen drives and watches to record footage at multiple locations across the country. These included the Portland Hospital in central London, medical facilities in Exeter, Sutton, south London, and Thames Ditton in Surrey. The court was also informed that he filmed in toilets at a clinic in Nottingham, on trains, and even at his own residence during social gatherings.

The investigation was triggered when Yeoh left a covert video recording device in a toilet block at St Anthony's Hospital, near a desk where two women were working. The device was discovered when one of the women recovered it, and subsequent analysis revealed that it had captured footage of one of the women using the toilet. Yeoh had inadvertently filmed himself securing the device, which added to the evidence against him.

Further disturbing details emerged regarding the nature of the footage. Several children aged between three and 14 appeared in the recordings, and Yeoh had made indecent images involving six different minors. The court was shown that Yeoh meticulously labeled the footage with graphic descriptions, dates, and names, stored on his computer. During his arrest, officers found a USB stick hanging around his neck, labeled “Cardiff Train Teenager,” containing further incriminating footage.

In police interviews, Yeoh expressed concern about the possibility of imprisonment, asking officers, “Will I go to jail? I cannot tell my family.” His defense, led by Sally O’Neill QC, acknowledged that Yeoh had a “collecting obsession,” which reportedly worsened after a hospital stay in 1984 that changed his personality. The defense also revealed that Yeoh had learned about voyeurism from the internet and claimed that discovering his crimes had “lifted a great weight off his shoulders.” Ms. O’Neill emphasized the profound shame Yeoh felt about his conduct, which spanned over three years, and highlighted the need for serious sentencing to reflect the gravity of his actions.
