Plymouth Child Abuser
A man named Kyle Marsden has been sentenced to jail for physically assaulting a young mother with a plastic toy lightsaber. The court heard that Marsden, aged 24, used a child's Star Wars toy to attack his former partner, hitting her on her leg and hip, which caused her to be left in tears and with reddening of her skin. The incident occurred on November 16 at the woman's home in Plymouth. During the assault, Marsden swung the toy multiple times, which resulted in visible injury and emotional distress for the woman. Additionally, he tore down Christmas decorations as he departed from the home. The court was informed that Marsden had previous convictions, with 15 convictions for 22 offences including violence, and he had previously been handed a two-year community order for similar offences involving harassment and assault of the same woman. He also breached a restraining order that prohibited contact with the woman, by repeatedly making contact and visiting her residence between October and November of the previous year. The judge sentenced him to 11 months in prison for the recent offences, and an additional three months for prior offences, with the restraining order being extended until 2021. The court also noted that Marsden had lost his job as a delivery driver due to his criminal record.
