KYLE HOLLINGSWORTH OF MANSFIELD ATTACKS POLICE DOG IN BRUTAL INCIDENT
In a disturbing act of violence in Mansfield, Kyle Hollingsworth, born on June 21, 1991, was convicted for his aggressive assault on a police dog. The incident unfolded on the evening of October 27, 2023, when Hollingsworth, a known career criminal and drug addict, was involved in a series of disruptive behaviors that culminated in a violent confrontation with law enforcement.Earlier that day, Hollingsworth was reported to the police after he unlawfully entered a woman’s backyard on Gladstone Street in Mansfield. Witnesses observed him banging on windows and causing a disturbance, prompting a police response. At approximately 9:30 pm, a police dog officer was dispatched to the scene to investigate and address the situation.
Upon arrival, the officer encountered Hollingsworth in the street, where he was seen carrying a large bottle. Despite being given clear instructions to cease his actions, Hollingsworth refused to comply and instead approached the officer aggressively. The situation escalated quickly, leading to a confrontation that would turn violent.
During the encounter, Police Dog Max, a two-year-old German Shepherd with an extensive service record, was called into action. Max responded by biting Hollingsworth on the hand and stomach in an effort to subdue him. However, Hollingsworth, instead of backing down, lashed out at the police dog, punching and kicking him repeatedly even after Max was brought to the ground. The attack on the dog was particularly brutal, with Hollingsworth showing no regard for the animal’s well-being.
Fortunately, Police Dog Max was not seriously injured in the attack and was able to recover quickly, returning to active duty shortly thereafter. Hollingsworth was promptly arrested at the scene and taken into custody. During court proceedings, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including criminal damage, affray, and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
The court heard that Hollingsworth has an extensive criminal history, with 44 previous convictions covering over 100 offenses. His past crimes include criminal damage, threats, and abusive behavior. His most recent appearance before the courts was in 2022, when he faced charges related to dwelling burglary and a series of thefts.
Hollingsworth’s violent actions and criminal record led to a sentencing of 12 months in prison. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by police officers and their service animals during confrontations with repeat offenders like Hollingsworth, who shows little regard for the law or the safety of others.
