KIRKCALDY FORKLIFT DRIVER SENTENCED FOR REVENGE PORN ATTACK
A 53-year-old forklift driver from Pottery Street in Kirkcaldy, named Krzysztof Sokolka, was convicted of sending his former partner an explicit image of herself in a revenge porn attack. He admitted to disclosing the intimate photograph, which showed the woman naked on a bed, along with a threatening message that she would not want the explicit image to be 'in space'.
Sokolka sent the image from a property in Glenrothes’ Victoria Path on June 2, during a malicious act aimed at his ex-partner.
The court heard that he told her she would regret the exposure and threatened to share the image with her family.
In court, Sokolka, who was aided by a Polish interpreter, pleaded guilty to this domestically aggravated offence.
Sheriff Timothy Niven-Smith sentenced him to a two-year non-harassment order and 160 hours of unpaid work.
The sheriff warned that if the work is not completed within a year, Sokolka could face imprisonment.
The judge emphasized that his actions were calculated and designed to cause fear or alarm, especially considering the breakdown of their relationship.
Due to his lack of previous relevant convictions and his age, he was dealt with as a first offender, avoiding immediate jail time.
The court highlighted the sensitivity of the case, and that Sokolka’s guilty plea spared the victim from having to testify.
The court considered the behaviour serious but opted for an alternative sentence under the presumption against short jail terms.
