In a case that has shocked the local community, Krystian Kwarta, a 20-year-old resident of Keyhaven Road in Milford-on-Sea, has been handed down a severe prison sentence after being convicted of serious sexual offenses committed in Southampton. The incident took place on the morning of Saturday, 15th February, near the West Quay shopping centre, a popular retail destination in Southampton.

According to reports, the victim, a 21-year-old woman, was walking to her place of work when she was suddenly approached by an unknown man. The assailant, later identified as Krystian Kwarta, reportedly grabbed her from behind and subjected her to a brutal assault that culminated in rape. The attack occurred within the perimeter of the West Quay retail park, an area bustling with shoppers and commuters at that time of day.

Following the distressing incident, the woman immediately reported the assault to the police. Southampton’s Operation Amberstone team responded swiftly, launching an extensive investigation into the matter. Officers meticulously examined a vast amount of CCTV footage from the vicinity of West Quay, including the retail park and surrounding areas, in an effort to identify the perpetrator.

Analysis of the CCTV footage revealed that shortly before 8 a.m., the suspect was seen following the woman as she approached the shopping centre. The footage captured him trailing her closely, and moments later, he was seen violently attacking her. This crucial evidence led investigators to focus on the individual now known as Krystian Kwarta.

Further investigation and analysis of the CCTV footage eventually pointed to a residence in Milford-on-Sea. Authorities promptly arrested Kwarta and transported him to Southampton Central police station for questioning. During the interrogation, forensic evidence confirmed that his DNA matched the DNA found at the scene of the assault, establishing a clear link between him and the crime.

Following the arrest, law enforcement officials worked closely with the Crown Prosecution Service. On 18th February, Kwarta was formally charged with two counts of rape and one count of assault. The case proceeded to court, where he pleaded guilty to all charges on 20th March at Southampton Crown Court.

Today, the court sentenced Krystian Kwarta to a total of 8 years in prison. Additionally, he was handed a four-year license period, during which he will be under supervision and subject to certain restrictions. The sentence reflects the gravity of the offenses committed and serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat violent crimes in the Southampton area.
