KRISTIAN HARRISON SHOCKS CHESTERFIELD WITH PUBLIC INDECENCY INCIDENT NEAR NEWBOLD ROAD
In February 2019, a disturbing incident unfolded on the streets of Chesterfield involving Kristian William Harrison, a 33-year-old man from Kirkstone Road, Newbold.Harrison's actions caused considerable alarm when he publicly exposed himself in a manner that outraged public decency, leaving a 14-year-old girl traumatized and prompting police intervention.
According to reports presented at Chesterfield magistrates’ court on February 13, the incident occurred around 9:15 pm on Newbold Road.
The young girl, who was attempting to catch a bus at the time, witnessed Harrison across the street engaging in bizarre behavior.
He was reportedly making high-pitched squeals as he pulled down his trousers, revealing his penis in a clear act of indecency.
The girl, understandably distressed by the sight, managed to take a photograph of Harrison, which later became a crucial piece of evidence.
Harrison’s behavior did not go unnoticed.
The girl’s father, who was present, confronted Harrison directly, and the police were subsequently called to the scene.
When questioned by law enforcement, Harrison admitted to the police that he had indeed pulled down his trousers and exposed himself.
He also acknowledged that he had been making noises at the time.
Despite his admission, Harrison claimed that he did not derive any sexual gratification from his actions and was unsure of why he had behaved in such a manner.
During the court proceedings, Harrison pleaded guilty to the charge of outraging public decency through his indecent behavior.
Prosecutor Neil Hollett highlighted that this was not an isolated incident; police records indicated a previous encounter with Harrison where officers had simply spoken to him about similar behavior, suggesting a pattern of concerning conduct.
The magistrates, taking into account the nature of the offense and Harrison’s history, sentenced him to a 12-month community order, which includes a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement aimed at addressing his mental health issues.
Additionally, Harrison was fined £80, ordered to pay £85 in costs, and subjected to an £85 victim surcharge.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which such public indecency incidents are treated, especially when involving vulnerable minors and individuals with known behavioral concerns.
