KRISTIAN EAST FROM GRIMSBY JAILED FOR GROOMING UNDERAGE GIRL IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Grimsby, Kristian East, a 22-year-old man residing on Earl Street, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of grooming a teenage girl for sexual activity. The incident, which took place between September 23 and October 2, involved East engaging in a series of inappropriate and sexually explicit communications with the underage girl, demonstrating a clear pattern of predatory behavior.
According to the prosecution, Jeremy Evans, the case emerged during an investigation into another individual who had previously groomed and engaged in sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl.
During the course of this inquiry, authorities examined the mobile phone of the teenage girl involved and uncovered evidence linking East to the case.
The phone contained a staggering 466 sexually explicit text messages, all of which indicated that East was fully aware that the girl was of school age.
This evidence painted a troubling picture of deliberate and persistent grooming.
The court heard that East and the girl had initially met while they were in Cleethorpes, where they bonded over a game of bowling.
Following their meeting, she added him as a friend on Facebook, which facilitated further communication.
It was revealed that East had a prior conviction from January 2009, involving sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl in Weelsby Woods, highlighting a troubling pattern of behavior.
Charlotte Baines, representing East, acknowledged that her client was aware of the girl’s underage status.
She explained that East had been experiencing emotional turmoil due to a devastating breakup with his fiancée, which had caused his mental health to deteriorate.
However, this personal hardship did not excuse his actions, and the court was told that his emotional difficulties had spiraled out of control.
Judge David Tremberg addressed East directly during sentencing, emphasizing the gravity of his misconduct.
He stated, “Most people learn from their mistakes.
Most people learn from experience.
There is beginning to develop a most unhealthy pattern of behaviour.” The judge condemned East for engaging in sexually explicit messaging that was wholly inappropriate, encouraging the girl to send indecent photographs, and knowingly taking risks by pursuing a relationship with someone he knew was underage.
Judge Tremberg made it clear that East’s actions constituted serious grooming, especially given that he had been warned about such behavior in the past.
“You well knew that she was too young, but that was a risk you were prepared to take,” he said.
The court found that East’s primary motivation was to satisfy his own short-term sexual needs, disregarding the potential harm to the girl.
While the judge noted that East did not coerce her directly, his actions further “corrupted” her.
As a result of his conviction, East was sentenced to six months in prison.
Additionally, he was issued a seven-year sexual offences prevention order and is required to register as a sex offender for the same period.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of grooming and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable young people in communities like Grimsby.
