KRIS MAISEY AND SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN CARMARTHENSHIRE
In a chilling series of events detailed at Swansea Crown Court, Kris Maisey, a known sex offender from Carmarthenshire, faced serious allegations related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children, as well as illicit online activity involving minors.Authorities discovered that Maisey had downloaded approximately 1,000 images depicting children being sexually abused.
These images included some classified as Category A, which represent the most severe forms of child sexual exploitation and rape.
Evidence also revealed that, despite being under strict legal conditions, he had engaged in online activities that violated a court-issued sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) and his obligations under the sex offenders' register.
A particularly disturbing aspect of the investigation was that Maisey used a false name to join a dating website resembling Tinder, known as Wink, raising concerns about his intent to seek out minors.
At the time of these discoveries, police had previously seized Maisey’s mobile phone after identifying his communication with two 12-year-old girls.
Although the contacts were not explicitly sexual in nature, their existence prompted further investigation.
During a routine community check, officers examined Maisey’s phone and uncovered evidence that linked him to this contact.
The investigation intensified when police, after a week, returned to arrest him for possessing indecent images.
They found that Maisey had been using another mobile phone, which he had obtained through borrowing from his mother.
This second device also contained searches related to underage girls, exposing additional online predatory activity.
The court was informed that in August of the previous year, Kris Maisey had already been sentenced to a ten-month prison term, which was suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to possessing over 1,700 indecent images of children.
He was also placed on the sex offenders' register for ten years and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order, restricting his online activities and accounts.
During the prosecution's presentation, Ian Wright detailed that police's routine checks revealed Maisey's ongoing involvement in inappropriate online behavior, including communications with minors and joining adult dating platforms using fake identities.
When police re-arrested him, they discovered he had been actively searching for material related to underage girls, despite being under court orders to prevent such conduct.
Kris Maisey, who resides on Norton Road in Penygroes, Cross Hands, Carmarthenshire, had previously admitted to multiple charges related to his possession of indecent images and breaching his SHPO.
His defense attorney, Matt Murphy, argued that while in custody awaiting sentencing, Maisey was actively engaging in educational pursuits and had established a community group in prison, although specific details of the group were not disclosed.
Despite this, Judge Peter Thomas KC expressed clear disapproval of Maisey’s blatant disregard for court orders and the trust placed in him.
He highlighted that in August of the previous year, the court had provided Maisey an opportunity to reform; however, instead of complying, Maisey continued to access and seek out child abuse images.
Consequently, the judge sentenced him to an overall term of 28 months in prison — consisting of 20 months for the new offenses, with an additional eight months from his previous suspended sentence being activated.
Additionally, Maisey was ordered to serve up to half of this sentence before being eligible for release on license.
The court also imposed a new ten-year SHPO, continuing his legal restrictions for the foreseeable future.
