SITTINGBOURNE PAEDOPHILE KIM WILDEY SENTENCED TO 15 MONTHS FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a recent court ruling, Kim Wildey, a man with a troubling history of sexual offences, was sentenced to 15 months in prison after being found guilty of possessing and downloading highly disturbing images depicting child abuse. The incident took place in Sittingbourne, where Wildey resides on Grovehurst Road, and highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding individuals involved in the distribution and consumption of such illicit material.Wildey, aged 55, was brought before Maidstone Crown Court to face charges related to the possession and creation of indecent photographs of children. The court was informed that between April 2005 and December of the previous year, Wildey had downloaded a total of 99 still images and 54 video clips. These images and videos ranged in severity from less explicit to the most extreme levels, with some depicting torture and sadistic acts involving very young girls aged between four and eleven years old. Four of these images were classified at the highest level of severity, indicating acts of extreme cruelty and sadism.
During the investigation, officers from the public protection crime unit executed a search warrant at Wildey’s residence on December 19 of the previous year. They confiscated computers and other electronic devices, which were later examined and revealed the extent of Wildey’s illicit activities. The court heard that Wildey had previously served a prison sentence in 1996 for gross indecency and indecent assault involving young girls. However, his name was not added to the sex offenders’ register at that time because the legal requirement to do so was only established the following year.
In court, Wildey’s defense attorney, Alistair Keith, argued that Wildey’s wife was unaware of his past conviction and had not been involved in his criminal activities. He stated that Wildey had transferred property to his wife to ensure that his family had a roof over their heads, emphasizing the personal toll of his actions. Mr. Keith also highlighted Wildey’s medical issues and past suicidal tendencies, suggesting that his client faced a difficult future both during and after incarceration.
Judge Andrew Patience QC addressed Wildey directly, expressing concern that someone with his history should have no access to such material. The judge remarked that Wildey’s claim of being a victim of abuse in the past did not justify his current actions. He emphasized the gravity of the offences, stating, “You knew you took pleasure from seeing done to young children what you say was to an extent done to you.” The judge further condemned the widespread nature of such crimes, noting that “somewhere on this planet someone is doing unspeakably wicked things to children who don’t understand what is being done to them but are terrified and thereafter damaged.”
Concluding his remarks, Judge Patience sentenced Wildey to 15 months in prison and imposed a sexual offences prevention order. Wildey is now prohibited from having unsupervised contact with children, and he will remain on the sex offenders’ register for the next ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and restrictions to protect potential victims.
