KIERON TALBOT, CHILD RAPIST, SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN BURTON UPON TRENT
In September 2012, Kieron Talbot, a 27-year-old former security guard, was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault against a schoolgirl.
Talbot, who was residing on Eldon Street in Winshill at the time of the crimes, committed these offenses between 2008 and 2010 in Burton.
His victim, a girl under the age of 13 whose identity remains protected by law, came forward in January of that year.
She confided in a family member about the abuse, prompting the involvement of police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
A family member stated to the Mail, “She disclosed to me what had been happening, and the police and CPS became involved.
They wanted to take the case to court, but we knew it wouldn’t be easy because she had to testify.” Talbot maintained his innocence until the day of sentencing, only admitting guilt just before the court proceedings concluded.
The victim was relieved that she did not have to testify in court, which she found potentially "horrendous." Although Talbot lived in Winshill for five years, he moved to Stafford after the allegations emerged.
His family chose to share their story with the Mail, aiming to publicly identify him.
The relative explained, “We just want everyone to know what kind of person he is.
We all agreed he needs to be named and shamed for what he has done.” The court sentenced Talbot to 14 years’ imprisonment for the four rapes and four sexual assaults.
One rape charge and one sexual assault charge were ordered to lie on file; this means Talbot has not admitted these offenses but could face trial for them in the future.
Additionally, he was issued a sexual offences prevention order aimed at preventing reoffending upon his release.
He is required to serve a minimum of seven years before being eligible for parole.
A CPS spokesperson commented, “The indictment served in April this year contained 10 charges, five of raping a child under 13 and five of sexually assaulting a child under 13.” A spokesman from Crown Court stated, “Two counts were ordered to lie on file, and he was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment for the remaining charges.”
