WORKINGTON MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT ATTACKS AND BREAK-IN CRIMES
A man has been jailed for attacking his ex-partner and helping to break into a property to steal a computer.Kieran Winder, of Hunday Court, Workington, was involved in assisting two others in burgling an address on the town's Rydal Street in May last year.
Upon his arrest, he assaulted an officer and caused damage to a patrol vehicle.While on bail, the 32-year-old, who has a criminal record with 45 offences dating back to 2007, physically assaulted his ex-girlfriend on four separate occasions and smashed her phone.He was sentenced to 26 months in prison at Carlisle Crown Court on Wednesday.
Judge Nicholas Barker noted that Winder had "never ceased to act in a violent way" throughout his 18 years of offending.Additionally, Winder was prohibited from contacting the woman for three years.
Prosecutor Tariq Khawam described the ex-partner as feeling "terrified" and worried he would try to contact her again, stating, "She is worried he will hurt her, or find a way to get her attention." Khawam also highlighted Winder's history of violent convictions but mentioned that he has been showing some signs of positive progress since being remanded in custody in November.
