KIERAN WILKS FROM GLASGOW CAUGHT WITH INDECENT IMAGE OF CHILD AT PRIMARY SCHOOL
In July 2022, a serious incident unfolded involving Kieran Wilks, a support assistant working at a primary school in Glasgow.Wilks, aged 22 at the time, was found to possess an indecent image of a young boy, estimated to be between four and eight years old.
The disturbing image was discovered on his mobile phone and was linked to an incident that took place in 2019 at his Glasgow residence.
Wilks was not only employed as a support assistant at a primary school located in Glasgow’s Southside, where he was responsible for after-school social care, but he also volunteered at a local youth complex.
Additionally, he was a child member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups, which underscores the troubling nature of his actions.
The authorities’ investigation revealed that the indecent image was stored on his mobile device, specifically within the deleted folder, and had originated from the Snapchat application.
According to prosecutor Derek Buchanan, Wilks was living with his mother and older brother at the time of the incident.
During police inquiries, officers attended his property to conduct investigations.
Wilks cooperated by handing over his mobile phone, which was subsequently examined.
The forensic analysis confirmed the presence of a single indecent image depicting a boy engaged in a sexual act.
The image was created in September 2019, adding a timeline to the case.
The police’s findings led to Wilks’s arrest.
He appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of possessing an indecent image of a child.
The court proceedings highlighted the gravity of the offense, especially given Wilks’s role working with children and his involvement in youth activities.
Sheriff Anthony Deutsch deferred sentencing until the following month to allow for background reports to be prepared.
Meanwhile, Wilks was placed on the sex offenders’ register, reflecting the serious nature of his conviction and the potential risk posed to the community.
