NORWICH TEEN HAD MORE THAN 1,000 INDECENT IMAGES ON PHONE
A Norwich teenager found with more than 1,000 indecent images of children did it "for the thrill of it", a court has heard.
Kieran Cram, 18, had sought out the pictures after a friend had shown him some online, < and on that phone was found a total of 1,261 indecent images of children aged between two and 13, including 228 category A or the most serious.
police went to Cram's home in September 2022 - when he was 16 - and seized a number of devices, including a mobile phone "from his bed".
The images included 579 category B images, 454 category C images, and two videos.
When interviewed, Cram said he got a "thrill" from doing it.
Cram, of Gloucester Street, Norwich, appeared in court on Wednesday having admitted three counts of making indecent photographs of a child.
The court was told Cram was "seeing a private therapist to deal with the issues" and help him come to terms with his "interest and curiosity".
Imposing an 18-month community order, Recorder John Hardy said these were "vile" images, but noted Cram was 16 when he committed the offences, pleaded guilty early, and was seeking help.
He was also given 80 hours of unpaid work, ordered to carry out 20 days of rehabilitation activity, placed on the sex offenders register for five years, and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for two years.
