KIER LUKE GROOMS 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN BICESTER AND BANBURY HOTEL MEETINGS
In a disturbing case that has raised serious concerns about online safety and child protection, Kier Luke, a 36-year-old man from Holly Close, Bicester, was found guilty of engaging in a sexual grooming process with a 13-year-old girl. The incident unfolded after Luke initiated contact with the young girl through Facebook, a popular social media platform, and continued communication via phone texts.
Authorities revealed that Luke's interactions with the girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, included exchanging messages that were explicitly sexual in nature.
These messages, which police uncovered during their investigation, included one from Luke stating, "I could take all your clothes off," indicating a clear intent to exploit the minor.
Following their online exchanges, Luke arranged to meet the girl in person.
The meeting took place at the Cromwell Hotel in Banbury on November 16, 2009.
Prior to this, the two had spent time together at the cinema, and Luke spent the night with her, an act that further demonstrated his predatory behavior.
At the time of the incident, Luke was employed at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club located on Sheep Street in Bicester.
His employment background and local connections did not prevent him from engaging in this serious criminal conduct.
Investigations revealed that Luke had downloaded indecent images of children over a period spanning from July 2004 to November 2009.
Although these images were not of the girl involved in the case, their existence underscored the severity of his actions and the broader pattern of inappropriate behavior.
During the trial at Oxford Crown Court, Sally Mealing-McLeod, the prosecutor, emphasized that Luke was the one who initially approached the girl, and her friends' intervention, which led to her telling her assistant headmistress, was instrumental in preventing further harm.
Prosecutors highlighted that the messages exchanged between Luke and the girl were unmistakably sexual, reinforcing the grooming nature of his conduct.
Despite the evidence and conviction, there was concern expressed by the authorities that Luke still appeared to deny any wrongdoing, a stance that adds to the troubling nature of the case.
On Friday, Luke was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his crimes.
Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order and is required to register as a sex offender for the next decade, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community from potential future offenses.
