KHUMBULANI SIBANDA FROM LEICESTER JAILED FOR CHILD RAPE IN COVENTRY AND LEICESTER
In a case that has shocked the local communities, Khumbulani Sibanda, a man originally from Coventry and now residing in Leicester, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of serious sexual offenses involving a minor.The crimes, which spanned from 2016 to 2018, only came to light in January 2021 when the young victim, whose identity remains protected, confided in someone about a disturbing secret.
According to court reports, the child alleged that Sibanda had sexually assaulted them on multiple occasions during visits to his home in Coventry.
The details of the abuse were revealed during the trial, which culminated in Sibanda’s conviction at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday, August 24.
Khumbulani Sibanda, aged 43, was found guilty of multiple charges, including child rape, sexual assault, and exposure.
The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison for the rape of a child under 13, a crime that has left a lasting scar on the victim and the community.
In addition to the prison sentence, Sibanda was ordered to serve a minimum of 10 years before being eligible for parole, reflecting the court’s classification of him as a dangerous offender.
Furthermore, he will be subject to an extended licence period of three years, which could extend to eight years if he is released after serving 10 years in custody.
The court also mandated that Sibanda remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
In a further punitive measure, Sibanda received concurrent sentences of 12 weeks each for sexual assault and exposure, emphasizing the severity of his misconduct.
These sentences will run alongside his primary sentence, reinforcing the gravity of his offenses.
Khumbulani Sibanda’s case highlights the importance of vigilance and the need for robust safeguarding measures to protect vulnerable children from predators.
His move from Coventry to Leicester, where he currently resides on Fosse Road South, has not spared him from justice.
