KEVIN SUTTIE'S BRUTAL CRIMES IN FIFE AND COWDENBEATH REVEALED

The court proceedings in Dunfermline have brought to light a disturbing pattern of domestic abuse and sexual offenses committed by Kevin Suttie, a man with a long history of violence and predatory behavior in the Fife area.

The details of his crimes, spanning over a decade, paint a grim picture of repeated violence against multiple women and heinous sexual misconduct involving young boys.

At the Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Suttie, aged 39 and residing on High Street, Cowdenbeath, pleaded guilty to a series of violent assaults against his former partners.

The court heard that between September 8, 1999, and February 28, 2001, at an address on Centre Street in Kelty and other locations, he subjected his then-partner to relentless physical abuse.

His actions included throwing household objects at her, repeatedly kicking, punching, and slapping her.

In one particularly troubling incident, Suttie disconnected the phone to prevent her from calling for help, pushed her forcefully on her body, and pinned her against walls.

On another occasion, he sat on top of her while she was lying on a bed, pinning her down, all of which caused her injury.

Further, the court revealed that between August 1, 2006, and February 19, 2010, at Rae Street and Blamey Street in Cowdenbeath, Suttie assaulted another woman, his then-partner, through a series of violent acts.

These included slapping her across the face, grabbing her, throwing her to the ground, repeatedly punching her, pinning her down, and hurling household items at her, all resulting in injuries.

The pattern of violence persisted over the years, with the court noting that Suttie’s behavior was characterized by controlling and aggressive tendencies.

In a separate incident, between January 1 and May 1, 2013, at a residence on Rae Street, Cowdenbeath, Suttie assaulted yet another woman, his then-partner, by punching her repeatedly, pushing her, and pulling her hair, causing further harm.

The court also heard that on July 1 of this year, at Swintons Place in Hill of Beath, Suttie behaved in a threatening and abusive manner, shouting and swearing repeatedly.

Depute fiscal Ron Hay emphasized that Suttie’s pattern of physical violence was a regular feature of his relationships.

The first victim recounted an early 2000 incident where Suttie punched her, apologized, kissed her, and claimed it would not happen again.

Despite this, the violence continued, with Suttie often punching her on her lower back and thighs.

On another occasion, when she had her hair done for a wedding, he confronted her, grabbed her, and assaulted her with punches and kicks.

The victim was forced to barricade herself in her bedroom and call for help, highlighting the severity of his abusive behavior.

In addition to these incidents, the court noted that Suttie had previous convictions for domestic abuse against another woman in 2010 and 2011, indicating a persistent pattern of violence and control over his partners.

Sheriff Charles Macnair addressed the court, stating, “You’ve been abusive to a series of partners over many years.

It is the pattern of violence and controlling behaviour which is important.” As a result, Suttie was sentenced to a total of 540 days in prison, reflecting the court’s condemnation of his repeated violent conduct.

Separately, the court also examined the disturbing case of Kevin Suttie’s sexual offenses committed during his teenage years in Fife.

The 46-year-old, formerly residing on Fraser Drive, was convicted of molesting two young boys at different locations in Fife while he was still a minor.

He had denied the charges during a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh but was found guilty of indecent conduct towards one boy, aged 12, between April 1993 and January 1994 at an address in Cowdenbeath.

The court heard that during this abuse, Suttie exposed himself and performed sex acts on the young boy.

He was also convicted of sexually assaulting a second boy, aged 13 or 14, at a house in Rosyth between January 1995 and June 1996.

During this incident, Suttie pulled down the boy’s lower clothing and engaged in sexual acts, inducing the victim to perform a sex act on him as well.

These offenses occurred when Suttie was between 15 and 18 years old, revealing a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior during his youth.

Judge Lord Tyre described the offenses as serious and emphasized their impact on the victims.

He pointed out that Suttie had threatened one of the boys with violence if he disclosed what had happened.

The court sentenced Suttie to three years in prison for these sexual offenses, which will run consecutively to his current sentence.

The judge highlighted the gravity of the crimes, including penetration and attempted penetration, and stressed that such conduct against vulnerable children warranted a custodial sentence.

In his sentencing remarks, Lord Tyre acknowledged Suttie’s age at the time of the offenses but underscored the seriousness of his actions.

He also reaffirmed that Suttie’s conviction for sexual offenses requires him to be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely, and he will be subject to notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

The court further directed that details of Suttie’s conviction be communicated to the Scottish Ministers, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.

Overall, the court’s rulings reflect a comprehensive condemnation of Kevin Suttie’s long history of violence and sexual misconduct, emphasizing the need for accountability and protection of vulnerable individuals in the Fife community.
