KEVIN STIFF FROM GLEMSFORD SENTENCED AFTER SECOND OFFENSE INVOLVING CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN IPSWICH
In a serious case that highlights ongoing concerns about child exploitation and online abuse, Kevin Stiff, a 50-year-old resident of Slades Close in Glemsford, has been sentenced to prison after being found in possession of indecent images of children for the second time within a span of three years. On a Monday at Ipswich Crown Court, Stiff appeared to face the consequences of his actions. The court was informed that on November 7 of the previous year, police officers executed a warrant at his residence. During the search, they confiscated a mobile phone belonging to Stiff, which was subsequently examined and found to contain multiple indecent images of minors. This discovery was particularly troubling given Stiff’s prior conviction related to similar offenses.
Stiff’s criminal history includes a two-year prison sentence handed down in 2015, after authorities uncovered images of children that had been downloaded from the internet. The recent findings from the police raid in November last year revealed additional images, which constituted a breach of a stringent 10-year sexual harm prevention order that had been previously imposed on him. This breach was a key factor in the court’s decision to impose further penalties.
During the hearing, Judge Rupert Overbury noted that Stiff had pleaded guilty to two charges: making indecent images of children and breaching the terms of the 2015 sexual harm prevention order. The judge emphasized the seriousness of the breach, which demonstrated a continued risk to the safety and well-being of children.
As a result, Stiff was sentenced to a total of 18 months in prison. In addition to the custodial sentence, the court imposed a new 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and contact with minors. Furthermore, Judge Overbury ordered that Stiff must register as a sex offender for the next ten years, a measure designed to monitor and prevent any further offenses.
It was also revealed that Stiff had previously worked as a teaching assistant at schools in Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds, roles that underscore the potential risk posed by his actions. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat online child exploitation.
