KEVIN ROWLAND FROM SUNDERLAND SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN PALLION
A man identified as Kevin Rowland, a resident of Sunderland, has been sentenced to prison after engaging in a disturbing case of online predation.The incident involved Rowland sending sexually explicit messages and images to an individual he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, but who was actually an undercover police officer.
Rowland was apprehended at his residence on Eastmoor Road, located in the Pallion area of Sunderland, during a police operation in May.
Following his arrest, he admitted to multiple charges, which led to his guilty plea in court.
The charges included attempting to arrange or facilitate child sex offences, engaging in sexual communication with a minor, breaching a sexual harm prevention order, and violating sex offender notification requirements.
At Newcastle Crown Court, the 44-year-old was handed a sentence of three years and three months in prison.
The court's decision was the culmination of a comprehensive and meticulous investigation carried out by the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU).
Detective Constable Lee Robertson commented on the case, emphasizing the importance of the investigation.
He stated, "Rowland's sentencing has been achieved following a long and thorough investigation by NEROCU.
This result has meant a predator is now back behind bars and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protecting children from such threats." He further urged the public to come forward with any information related to similar offences or if they believe they have been victims, encouraging open communication with law enforcement authorities to help prevent further crimes of this nature.
