EXETER PAEDOPHILE KEVIN MILLS SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN PRISON FOR ABUSE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Exeter, Kevin Mills, a 57-year-old man, has been convicted and sentenced for heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl and possession of indecent images of children. The proceedings took place at Exeter Crown Court, where Mills appeared to face justice for his actions.
It was revealed during the trial that Mills, a former delivery driver and bus driver, had exploited a girl known to him by grooming her over a period of time.
He manipulated her trust, gradually isolating her from her social environment before subjecting her to repeated sexual assaults involving penetration.
The court heard that Mills committed these acts in a calculated manner, using grooming tactics to gain and maintain control over the victim.
The victim, who was under 16 at the time, was compelled to give evidence against Mills during the trial held in April 2022, as Mills refused to admit to the charges.
After careful deliberation, the jury found Mills guilty on all three counts of sexual assault of a child under 16 by penetration.
The verdict marked a significant step in delivering justice for the young girl and her family.
Further compounding his criminal record, it was established that Mills had a prior conviction from 2012, when he was found guilty of 15 charges related to the creation, possession, and distribution of indecent images of children.
These images included some of the most severe categories, depicting babies, toddlers, and teenagers being abused.
Authorities discovered these images stored on two laptops and an SD card, which Mills had also shared with other individuals through an online paedophile chatroom, highlighting his involvement in a broader network of offenders.
The images included some of the most serious Category A material, which involves the most severe forms of child abuse, as well as a small number of images depicting acts of bestiality.
The distribution of such material underscores the extent of Mills' engagement in illegal activities related to child exploitation.
In sentencing, the judge imposed a six-year prison term on Mills, emphasizing the gravity of his crimes.
Additionally, Mills was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
A ten-year sexual harm prevention order was also issued, prohibiting him from contacting or approaching children up to the age of 18.
These measures aim to protect the community from any potential future harm caused by Mills.
Kevin Mills is currently incarcerated at Dartmoor Prison in Devon, where he will serve his sentence.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and the justice system to combat child exploitation and hold offenders accountable for their actions.
