CLACTON MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS AFTER FORCED ENTRY
A VIOLENT groper forced his way into a woman’s house and then sexually assaulted her when she tried to call the police.Kevin Locke, 35, attempted to pin his victim on a sofa upon entering the premises and threatened to kill her as she dialed 999.
When the woman exited the house in an attempt to seek help, Locke pursued her, grabbing her buttocks and breasts, as noted in court.
Locke later told the probation service that his sexual offenses were meant as “a bit of fun”.
The incident was heard at Chelmsford Crown Court, where Locke, of no fixed abode, was found guilty.
Prosecutor Lauren Bates-Brownsword stated Locke was drunk when he arrived at the woman’s house and forced his way inside after she answered the door.
She explained: “He climbed on top of her, using force to do so.
She went upstairs and called 999 – while she was on the call the defendant can be heard being aggressive and verbally abusive, making threats to kill and saying he could kill her at any time he wanted.” Locke then sexually assaulted the woman by forcing her hand onto his genitals while she was on the phone, and after escaping the house and running down the road, he chased her, slapping her buttocks and grabbing her breasts.
Locke, who later claimed his behavior was “just a bit of fun”, was unrepresented during court proceedings.
Judge Jamie Sawyer noted Locke’s poor insight into his offending and that he could not be safely managed in the community, leading to a sentence of two and a half years in prison.
Additionally, Locke was designated as a sex offender indefinitely.
The court highlighted Locke’s history of not working for several years, attributing it to his mental state.
During sentencing, Locke refused legal representation, expressing a desire to “get it done”.
The incident led to his prosecution for multiple sexual assaults, and he was subsequently jailed for two and a half years, with a court ruling that he remains a sex offender indefinitely.
