KEVIN HILTON CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN COLNE - SHOCKING SEX OFFENDER CASE

In May 2019, authorities in Colne uncovered disturbing evidence involving Kevin Hilton, a registered sex offender with a troubling history. During a routine compliance check conducted by police officers, Hilton's claims about his possession of internet-enabled devices were met with suspicion, leading to a deeper investigation that revealed alarming details.

Initially, Hilton, 39 years old and residing at Burrans Meadow in Colne, insisted to officers that he did not possess any devices capable of accessing the internet. He claimed that if he needed to go online, he would visit the local library, asserting that he had no such devices at his home. However, a vigilant police officer noticed a top-up card in the room, which prompted further questioning.

When pressed about the top-up card, Hilton produced three mobile phones, including a basic Nokia device, a Samsung smartphone, and another device which he claimed was no longer functional. During the inspection, the officer observed a distressing image on the Samsung phone: a photograph of a naked child. This discovery was deeply concerning and indicated potential violations of legal restrictions.

Further investigation revealed that Hilton was subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which explicitly prohibited him from possessing any internet-enabled devices unless they could store browsing history, which he was required to make available to police and not delete. Despite this, Hilton failed to comply with these conditions.

All the devices found were sent for forensic analysis, which could potentially lead to additional charges. The police confirmed that at least one of the devices contained images of children, and Hilton's actions included deliberate deception, as he lied about the presence of such devices and images during the police visit.

Kevin Hilton subsequently pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the terms of his sexual harm prevention order. The court sentenced him to four months in prison, suspended for two years. Additionally, he was placed under a community order for two years, which included a requirement to undertake 10 days of rehabilitation activities. Hilton was also ordered to pay costs amounting to £85 and a victim surcharge of £115.

Prosecutor Catherine Allan emphasized the seriousness of the case, highlighting that Hilton's violation of the order and possession of illicit images represented a significant breach of legal restrictions designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. The case remains under further investigation, with authorities continuing to analyze the devices for additional evidence.
