A DUDLEY man who struck a young woman with an iron bar before raping her has been jailed for 10 years.
Kevin Harrison, aged 30, had a “propensity towards violence” and Recorder Nicholas Cartwright ruled it was clear he posed a risk of future harm.
He told Harrison he was a “bully” adding, “To some extent you boasted about the way you beat her.
You are violent and domineering.” The recorder said Harrison had physically dominated his victim and after hitting her with the iron bar she was raped.
“You demonstrated a hunger for power and control, you degraded your victim and you made threats to kill,” he added at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
He said Harrison had threatened to cut up the woman and dispose of her body in bags and he had also kicked her in the stomach.
Harrison, of Hellier Street, had denied four charges of rape and another of assault causing actual bodily harm but he was convicted by a jury at the end of his five day trial.
He admitted two further charges of assault causing actual bodily harm to his victim and the recorder said he must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and stay on licence for five years after his release from custody.
“It is quite clear from everything I have read about you and heard during the trial that you must certainly be described as dangerous,” added the recorder.
Richard Martin, defending, said: “He is now pursuing a sensible approach to what may happen when he is released from custody.”
