A man identified as Kevin Clarry has been handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of multiple counts of rape. The sentencing took place at Carlisle Crown Court, where Clarry, aged 41 and residing on Charles Street in Carlisle, was found guilty of three separate charges of sexual assault.

Following a thorough trial, the court sentenced Clarry to 14 years in prison, reflecting the severity of his crimes. In addition to his prison term, the court imposed an indefinite restraining order to prevent any contact with the victim, and Clarry was also placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

The offences for which Clarry was convicted involved attacks on a single woman, with the incidents reportedly occurring over a period of time. The details of the case have been confirmed by Cumbria Police, who emphasized the gravity of the crimes committed.

Detective Constable Tony Wheatcroft commented on the case, acknowledging that sexual offences can be particularly challenging for victims to discuss and report. He reassured the public that support services are available for those affected by such crimes, underscoring the importance of reporting and seeking help in these difficult situations.
