Hucknall Rapist
A man named Kevin Carter, aged 34 and formerly residing on West Street in Hucknall, has been sentenced to six years in prison for a serious sexual offence. Carter appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on April 8th where he was convicted of raping a sleeping woman after he had sexually assaulted her in 2018. The attack occurred when the victim woke up to find Carter engaging in sexual activity with her. Despite initially pleading not guilty, Carter was found guilty by a jury following a trial that took place in February. Detective Constable Jas Athwal described the case as "really distressing" and expressed satisfaction that Carter received a strong sentence, providing closure for the victim. He emphasized that such crimes are unacceptable and assured the public that Nottinghamshire Police will pursue offenders vigorously and support victims in coming forward.
