KENSHIRU HYLANDA FROM PETERBOROUGH SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD RAPE IN CAMBRIDGE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Peterborough, Kenshiru Hylanda, aged 37, was convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses against a young girl, with the abuse spanning over eight years.The crimes, which began in 2013, involved the repeated rape and sexual assault of a teenager, with Hylanda committing these acts at least 30 times during this period.
Hylanda's criminal activities only came to light after the victim, overwhelmed by her distress, became hysterical while speaking to someone she knew.
This emotional outburst prompted an investigation, leading to his arrest.
During police interviews, Hylanda did not deny the allegations.
Instead, he admitted to the offences and explained that his actions were driven by lust, despite being fully aware that the girl did not consent to his advances.
The court proceedings revealed that Hylanda faced a total of 11 charges, including causing a child to engage in sexual activity, four counts of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13, three counts of raping a child under 13, two counts of rape, and one count of attempted rape.
His crimes were described as “horrific” by the presiding judge, reflecting the severity and brutality of his actions.
Hylanda, a resident of Peterborough, was brought before Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, 23 August.
The court sentenced him to 14 years in prison for his crimes.
Additionally, he was given an extended license period of eight years, meaning he will be under supervision upon release.
The court also ordered that Hylanda be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Furthermore, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was imposed, which will remain in effect until further notice.
This order is designed to restrict Hylanda’s future conduct and prevent any potential reoffending, providing an additional layer of protection for the community.
The case has left a lasting impact on those who knew the victim and highlights the importance of vigilance and swift justice in cases of child abuse.
