July 2022 ‘Evil monster’ from Tamworth jailed for child rapes A pensioner from Staffordshire has been jailed after admitting a string of child sex offences including rapes and sexual assaults which led to the judge branding him an ‘evil monster’. Kenneth Wood, aged, 82, from Tamworth, admitted nine sex offences, at Stafford Crown Court in June and was back in court on Thursday, July 28 to be sentenced. Wood pleaded guilty to: Two rapes on a girl under 13 Three rapes of a girl over 13 Two counts of indecent assault on a girl Sexual assault on a girl over 13 Sexual assault of a girl under 13. His sickening offences started in the 1960s but he also committed more recent sex crimes In 2011 and 2020. The sick sex attacker not only put his victims through horrendous sexual abuse but after they reported the crimes to police, Wood ‘continued to harass them by repeatedly driving down their street and even sending letters’ His victims detailed how Wood’s attacks had left them with panic attacks, nightmares and difficulties in their personal relationships as a result of the trauma, in personal statements read out in court. The serial child sex attacker was put behind bars for 23 years. Judge Gosling said to Wood: “There is no way for a rational human being to comprehend this campaign of rape.
