August 2013 Salford man jailed after raping 13-year-old in her own home A man who raped a 13-year-old girl in her own home has been jailed. Kenneth Knowles, 29, of Kitchener Avenue, Cadishead, woke up the girl in the middle of the night and attacked her after getting into the house earlier in the evening. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life after a trial at Manchester Minshull Street crown court. Knowles entered their house in Irlam without their knowledge in the early hours of October 1, 2011. He began sleeping on the sofa, before sneaking into the girl’s room and raping her. Detective Constable Nicola Wood, of GMP’s serious sexual offences unit, said: “A girl of just 13 years old was sleeping soundly in her bed at home when Knowles entered her address without her knowledge and raped her. This appalling crime and the impact it has had on the victim is incomprehensible to contemplate. “Knowles refused to admit his guilt so I must credit her unwavering bravery in supporting the prosecution that has today seen a dangerous sex offender jailed.”
