KENNETH HARRISON FROM BANBURY SENT PANTS PICTURE TO FAKE GIRL IN PREDATORY PLOT
In December 2022, Kenneth Harrison, a 59-year-old resident of Banbury, found himself facing serious legal consequences after engaging in a disturbing online predatory scheme.Harrison was apprehended at Banbury coach station while he was waiting to meet one of the five individuals he believed to be underage girls, all of whom were, in fact, adults posing as minors in an undercover operation.
These online decoys were part of a police initiative designed to catch potential offenders attempting to exploit children.
Harrison’s arrest was the culmination of an investigation that revealed his intent to meet with two of these fictitious minors for sexual purposes.
The authorities confirmed that none of the ‘girls’ he communicated with were real children, but rather adult actors working to prevent actual harm.
During the court proceedings, Judge Michael Gledhill KC emphasized the severity of Harrison’s actions, stating, “The message must go out from this court loudly and clearly that if anybody seeks to meet girls of this age for sexual purposes they will be very severely punished by way of substantial prison sentences.” Prosecutor Peter Pride provided details of the case, explaining that Harrison had used a popular dating app to contact the decoys.
He disclosed his real age and even shared his address with each profile, showing a blatant disregard for the potential danger.
Despite being informed that the profiles belonged to minors aged between 12 and 14, Harrison continued to engage in conversations that included sexual topics, asking about kissing and complimenting the girls on their appearance.
Harrison’s inappropriate behavior extended to sending explicit images and making cryptic boasts about his physical attributes, including claiming he had a ‘nine inches’.
He also arranged to meet one of the decoys, sending her a photograph of himself in his underwear and instructing her to lie to her mother about her whereabouts so she could stay overnight at his flat in Banbury.
His plans were thwarted when he was arrested at Banbury coach station as he waited for the fictitious girl to arrive.
The investigation revealed that, in addition to communicating with the decoys, Harrison was exchanging explicit messages with another supposed minor, even sending a photograph of his bed and suggesting they could ‘mess it up’.
Harrison, of Penrhyn Close, Banbury, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to eight counts, including attempting to arrange a child sex offence.
The court sentenced him to five years and three months in prison.
Furthermore, he will be subject to lifelong registration as a sex offender and will be under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent further offenses.
