EXETER MAN KENNETH BIDEN JAILED FOR SEX CRIMES IN FRANCE AND UK
In a groundbreaking case that has sent shockwaves through both the United Kingdom and France, Kenneth Biden, a 63-year-old resident of Exeter, Devon, has been sentenced to three years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against young girls.This case marks a significant legal milestone as Biden becomes the first individual in the UK to be incarcerated under the 1997 Sex Offenders Act for crimes committed abroad.
Judge Henry Blacksell presided over the proceedings at Middlesex Crown Court, where he described Biden as a man who was “calculating, self-justifying and deceptive.” The court heard that the offenses took place between 1997 and 1999 at Le Grand Botives, a converted farm located in Malguenac, Brittany, in northern France.
Biden, a retired engineer, had purchased the site in 1993 and managed it alongside his wife of 37 years, creating a family-oriented holiday destination.
According to court records, Biden deliberately sought to attract families with young daughters, gaining their trust by acting as a babysitter and children’s entertainer.
He was known to screen potential holidaymakers, including teachers, social workers, and police officers, discouraging them from staying at the campsite.
As part of his grooming process, Biden kept a ledger of the families staying at the site, highlighting the ages of any daughters with a marker pen to identify vulnerable victims.
The court also revealed that Biden harbored ambitions of transforming the campsite into a nudist resort.
An advertisement was placed in a British naturist magazine and other publications in an attempt to promote the site as a family-friendly naturalist haven.
However, as this dream faded, Biden’s behavior grew increasingly inappropriate.
Witnesses described how he would walk around the camp semi-naked and claimed to possess healing abilities through touch, encouraging other guests to go nude.
Police officers described Biden as an outgoing and intelligent man who took videos and photographs of children playing at the site.
He even asked parents for permission to use some of these images for promotional purposes.
Prosecutor Thomas Wilkins stated that Biden had engaged in grooming behaviors, secretly showing children films containing nudity to manipulate and exploit them.
When arrested in September at Plymouth, as he arrived on a ferry from Brittany, Biden initially denied any wrongdoing.
He claimed that his intentions were purely to create a campsite filled with “fun, freedom and happiness, screaming and giggling.” However, evidence presented in court painted a starkly different picture of his actions and motives.
During the trial, Biden’s defense lawyer, Martin Meeke, emphasized that his client was now a “ruined man,” noting that he was undergoing a divorce from his wife of 38 years and that the campsite was being put up for sale.
The case’s significance is heightened by the fact that Biden is the first person in the UK to be prosecuted under the 1997 Sex Offenders Act for crimes committed abroad, a law enacted to combat “sex tourism”—a phenomenon where British paedophiles travel to countries like Thailand and the Philippines to commit sexual offenses.
Ecpat, an organization campaigning against child exploitation, hailed the conviction as a “landmark.” They also urged the public to report any suspicions of sex tourism or abuse when returning from foreign destinations.
Police investigations into Biden’s activities are ongoing, and authorities have appealed to any additional witnesses or victims to come forward, ensuring that justice continues to be pursued for those affected by his actions.
