KENNETH ARNOLD FROM WIGAN JAILED FOR CHILD AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES
In a case that has shocked the local community of Wigan, Kenneth Arnold, a 62-year-old man, faced serious criminal charges after police uncovered disturbing images on his personal laptop. The investigation began on August 29 of the previous year, when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Arnold’s residence in Wigan.
During the raid, the authorities seized his computer for forensic analysis, which subsequently revealed a troubling collection of illicit material.
According to prosecutor Ken Grant, the forensic experts examined Arnold’s laptop and discovered a total of 48 images that were deemed highly inappropriate and illegal.
Among these, 44 were identified as indecent photographs of children, depicting minors in compromising and distressing situations.
In addition to these, four images involved extreme pornography featuring animals, which is considered a serious offense under the law.
During the court proceedings, Judge Andrew Menary, QC, addressed Arnold directly, emphasizing the gravity of his actions.
The judge stated, “You must appreciate offences of this type are always regarded as serious particularly offences in relation to children.
They will have involved someone at some stage taking images of a child, causing harm and distress.
What you were doing fuels that type of industry and that is why it is always regarded as a serious offence.” As a result of his conviction, Arnold was sentenced to a 12-month community order, which includes a requirement to participate in 30 days of rehabilitation activities.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat the distribution and possession of illegal and harmful material, especially when it involves vulnerable minors and animals.
The community of Wigan is left to grapple with the implications of such disturbing findings and the importance of safeguarding against such offenses in the future.
