Jordan, aged 23 and residing on Arnold Road in Oxford, was found guilty by a unanimous jury verdict of committing rape.
The trial, which lasted for seven days at Oxford Crown Court, concluded on Thursday, November 26, 2020.
The case centered around an incident that took place on April 17, 2017, when Jordan, through social media, engaged with a 15-year-old girl.
The interaction led to Jordan inviting her to his student accommodation, where he committed the assault.
Following the incident, Jordan was swiftly arrested on the same day.
The police investigation that ensued was extensive and meticulous, involving the examination of complex digital and forensic evidence.
This thorough investigation ultimately led to charges being brought against him on January 15 of the following year.
Detective Constable Jamie Macaro, who led the investigation for Oxford CID, emphasized the importance of the forensic evidence in securing the conviction.
He stated, “This was a lengthy investigation in which forensic evidence was found which helped to bring Jordan to justice.
Jordan had been trawling social media for his victim, and this was a dreadful offence.” DC Macaro also expressed appreciation for the victim’s bravery.
“I would like to praise the victim for coming forward to the police initially, and also for her patience and dignity while we investigated this offence.
She also had to give evidence during the trial, and I would like to commend her for her courage in doing so.” The officer further described Jordan as a predatory offender, highlighting the dangerous nature of his actions.
The court’s verdict means that Jordan will serve a substantial prison sentence, and upon release, he will be subject to a further four years of license supervision.
The hope expressed by authorities is that the victim will eventually find a way to move past this traumatic experience and rebuild her life, free from the shadow of this ordeal.
