KEITH WRIGHT FROM CHELTENHAM FACES LONG JAIL TERM FOR HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE CASE
In April 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving Keith Wright, a 43-year-old resident of Cheltenham, who is now facing serious criminal charges related to the abuse of a young girl.Wright, residing on Granville Street in Cheltenham, appeared before Gloucester Crown Court where he admitted to multiple counts of sexual assault against the minor.
During the court proceedings on a Friday, Wright confessed to four separate counts of assault by penetration.
Prosecutor Nick Gerasimidis detailed that each of these counts involved at least five instances of abuse, highlighting the repeated and systematic nature of Wright’s misconduct.
The court was also informed that Wright admitted to inciting the girl to engage in sexual activity, which included touching him on at least five different occasions.
Furthermore, Wright was expected to face additional charges related to the possession of vile images depicting child abuse.
Prosecutor Gerasimidis revealed that these images included Category A material, which is classified as the most severe and disturbing type of child exploitation imagery.
The prosecution indicated that some of these images would be shown to the young girl as part of the grooming process, aiming to desensitize her and make her believe such behavior was normal.
Judge Jason Taylor QC acknowledged the gravity of this aspect of the case, noting, “It was part of the grooming to make her think it was normal.” Wright’s actions, as described in court, were part of a calculated effort to manipulate and exploit the young girl, with the intent to normalize his abusive behavior.
The court heard that the images and the grooming tactics were designed to break down her resistance and make her more compliant.
As the case progressed, the judge decided to adjourn the sentencing until May 23, pending the preparation of a comprehensive probation report.
Judge Taylor emphasized the need for a significant custodial sentence, stating, “It has to be a long custodial sentence,” and underscored the importance of assessing Wright’s potential danger to the public.
The judge made it clear that the court would determine whether Wright posed a risk to others, which could influence the severity of the sentence.
In the meantime, Keith Wright was remanded in custody, remaining in detention until the sentencing hearing.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of the crimes committed and the need for justice to be served for the young victim involved in this harrowing case from Cheltenham.
