KEITH SCHOFIELD MANSFIELD SEX ATTACK SHOCKER
In March 2010, a disturbing incident unfolded in Mansfield involving Keith Schofield, a man with a troubling criminal history, who was accused of sexually assaulting a woman during an encounter at his flat.The court proceedings revealed a distressing account of the events that transpired that day.
According to court testimony, a 25-year-old woman visited Schofield's residence, seeking to speak with him.
What was intended as a simple visit quickly turned into a frightening ordeal.
Schofield, 61 years old at the time, attempted to kiss her without consent.
He then proceeded to place his hands on her bottom and touched her chest, actions that clearly crossed the boundaries of acceptable behavior.
The court heard that Schofield forcibly carried the woman into his living room in a bear hug.
Once inside, he placed her on a sofa and continued his inappropriate advances by kissing her.
Throughout the ordeal, the woman repeatedly told him to stop, approximately five or six times, but her pleas appeared to have little effect.
Eventually, she managed to push Schofield away, breaking free from his grasp.
She then fled from the flat in a state of distress and collapsed outside, where she was found crying hysterically.
Following the incident, Schofield expressed remorse, apologizing for his conduct and claiming to be disgusted with himself.
Despite his apologies, the authorities took him into custody.
He was subsequently charged with sexual assault, a charge he did not deny in court.
Keith Schofield, of Fiskerton Court in Mansfield, had a notorious criminal past.
He had previously served a seven-year sentence handed down on April 22, 1999, at Derby Crown Court for indecent assault on a girl under 16 and engaging in intercourse with a girl under 13.
His sentence was later reduced to six years by the Court of Appeal, reflecting the severity of his prior offenses.
During the sentencing, Judge Jonathan Teare addressed Schofield’s history, emphasizing the gravity of his previous crimes.
The judge stated, “You should have learnt your lesson from that sentence but you did not.
You took advantage of this girl.” In light of the recent incident, Schofield was sentenced to a community order for three years.
As part of his rehabilitation, he was required to attend a sex offender group work programme.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and compliance with legal restrictions.
