KEITH LOCKWOOD'S HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IN YORKSHIRE REVEALED IN COURT
A 70-year-old man from Yorkshire, Keith Lockwood, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after a series of heinous sexual offenses spanning over three decades.Lockwood, whose residence is listed as Park Lane in Keighley, was convicted of a disturbing pattern of abuse that has left a lasting impact on his victims.
Detectives described Lockwood as a serial child abuser, highlighting the severity and persistence of his criminal behaviour.
His offending history dates back to the 1970s, continuing through the 1980s and into the 1990s, with incidents occurring across the Kirklees district.
The court heard that Lockwood committed multiple sexual offenses, including gross indecency with a child and indecent assault, against seven boys under the age of 16.
Leeds Crown Court delivered a verdict of guilty on 23 counts of non-recent sexual offenses, which had been committed over a period of approximately 30 years.
As a result, Lockwood was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
Given the nature of his crimes, he is now required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.
DC Gilly Hodds, who led the investigation into Lockwood’s crimes, expressed her condemnation of his actions.
She stated, “Lockwood was found guilty by a unanimous verdict of an appalling catalogue of offending against victims who were young and vulnerable.” She emphasized the emotional toll on the victims, noting that they were forced to relive their traumatic experiences during the trial process.
“He forced those victims to relive the dreadful offences he committed against them by putting them through the ordeal of a trial, and I am pleased for them that the jurors saw through his attempts to evade answering for what he has done,” she added.
Hodds also praised the bravery of the victims, acknowledging their courage in coming forward to support the police and the Crown Prosecution Service.
She highlighted that Lockwood’s actions were particularly egregious given his position of trust, which he exploited to commit these crimes against children.
The case underscores the importance of vigilance and justice in addressing such serious offenses, and the community of Yorkshire can now be assured that a man who inflicted such suffering has been held accountable.
