KEITH HALL FROM MANCHESTER JAILED FOR RAPE AFTER VICTIM'S SECRET RECORDING REVEALS HORRIFIC ATTACK
In July 2017, a disturbing case of sexual assault unfolded in Manchester, leading to the conviction and imprisonment of Keith Hall, a 34-year-old man from Blackley. The incident came to light after the victim, who was subjected to a brutal and non-consensual attack, managed to secretly record part of the assault on her mobile phone, providing crucial evidence that ultimately led to Hall's conviction.
According to court proceedings, the victim was initially reluctant to stay in the same room as Hall, but he convinced her to sleep in a bedroom rather than on the sofa where she had planned to stay.
Prosecutor Charlotte Crangle detailed the distressing events, explaining that the woman lay face down with her arms tucked in, signaling her desire to avoid any physical contact.
Despite her protests and clear indications of discomfort, Hall proceeded to touch her on her upper legs and stomach, attempting to persuade her to engage in sexual activity.
The court heard that Hall put his hands down her pyjama bottoms, despite her repeated pleas for him to stop.
He continued to try to coerce her into sex, pulling down her pyjama bottoms and eventually climbing on top of her while she remained face down.
Hall then pushed her legs apart with his own, ignoring her protests and continued efforts to stop him.
The victim, overwhelmed and realizing he was not going to cease his actions, pulled a pillow over her face in a desperate attempt to block out the assault until it was over.
During the attack, the victim's phone was positioned next to the bed, and she pressed the record button to capture what was happening.
The recording captured Hall's voice as he asked, “do you not want it?
Do you want me to take it out?” to which she responded affirmatively.
He then asked, “so you don’t want me to f*** you?” and she again said no.
Despite her clear refusals, Hall continued his assault.
The court noted that he noticed the phone's light illuminating during the attack, indicating it was recording, but he denied any knowledge of the recording at the time.
The victim managed to email the recording to herself without Hall noticing, after he demanded she delete it.
Following the assault, the victim reported the rape after consulting with a mental health practitioner, which prompted the police investigation.
Hall later claimed that the sexual activity was consensual, but the evidence, including the recorded audio, proved otherwise.
The case was brought before Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester, where Hall was found guilty of rape.
He was subsequently sentenced to four and a half years in prison, reflecting the severity of his actions and the importance of the victim’s courage in documenting the assault.
