Biddulph Child Sexual Abuser
A man has been found guilty of nine child sexual offences following an investigation. Keith Barker, aged 67 and from Biddulph, Staffordshire, sexually abused the victim over several months in the 1990s.

The survivor courageously came forward in February 2022, which triggered the investigation that resulted in multiple charges against Barker. On Tuesday, 6 May, a jury at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court convicted Barker of six counts of indecent assault of a girl, two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl, and one count of attempting to have sexual intercourse with a girl.

Barker has been remanded in custody ahead of his sentencing, scheduled for 30 June at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Detective Constable Tiffany Berry, who was part of the public protection unit handling the case, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome. She stated, “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to deliver a successful outcome in this case. The survivor was brave in coming forward and disclosing her experiences to us, which enabled us to investigate the matter and for a trial to be heard at court.

“We’ve offered support to the survivor throughout the investigation and court process, and it is her bravery that has resulted in Barker’s crimes coming to our attention, and in turn, us being able to take another child sex offender off the streets.”
